FAQs about Redact PDF

Do my files get uploaded?

No. Your PDF is redacted right here on your own device, inside the browser. It never leaves your computer, so the private parts stay private.

Is the hidden text really gone?

Yes. On any page you redact, the content under the black mark is removed, not just covered. No one can copy, search, or pull it out of the saved file.

What can I draw to redact?

Select text to snap boxes to words, or draw a box, an oval, or a freehand marker over anything, like logos, photos, or signatures. Every shape is truly burned in when you save.

How do find and auto-detect work?

Type a word or number to mark every match, or tap Emails, Phones, Card numbers, or SSNs to find them across all pages. Review the marks, then apply. It all stays on your device.

Can it find text in a scan?

Yes. If your PDF is a scan or photo with no real text, the tool reads the words on your device first, then find and auto-detect work on the scan too. Pick the languages under Languages, then tap Read scanned text, or just run an auto-detect.

Is hidden data like the author name removed too?

Yes. When you save, the tool strips the document details, like author, title, and keywords, and every page you redact is flattened, so the text under it is gone.

Is it free?

Yes. Redact as many PDFs as you want, with no sign-up and no watermarks.
