What is removed, and what is kept
The tool removes the private and hidden parts of a file: EXIF (GPS location, camera model, lens, exposure settings and the date and time), XMP and Photoshop blocks (editing history and captions), and any embedded comments. It keeps the parts that make the image render correctly, including the ICC colour profile, so colours are unchanged. Because the picture itself is never re-encoded, there is no quality loss and the file simply gets a little smaller.
